FAQ’s

These are some of the questions we are frequently asked but if you have any questions regarding the services we offer please do call us.

  • Safe Hands are an independent company and are endorsed by the National Federation of Funeral Directors, the NFFD. They, like us, believe people should pay a fair price for funerals and costs must be proportionate, justifiable, essential and within reach of those on a limited budget.

  • You do not have to pass a medical test. You must be 18 years of age to purchase a Safe Hands funeral plan and there is no upper age limit. However if you are 75+ and are paying by monthly instalments, should you pass away prior to paying for the plan in full, the outstanding balance must be paid in full prior to the funeral taking place.

  • It is highly unlikely Safe Hands would go in to liquidation or cease trading. If this did happen, the Trust Fund containing policy holders funds is not an asset of the company and so your investment would be secure and remain ringfenced for your funeral payment. The Safe Hands Plans Trust is operated entirely independently by Pitmans Trustees and the Trust is audited each year by one of the UK’s largest accounting and auditing firms, Mazars LLP.

  • If you are in the UK when you pass away, Safe Hands Funeral Plans will arrange for you to be collected and transferred to the funeral director’s Chapel of Rest in your home town. If this is more than 20 miles away the additional mileage will be charged at the funeral directors standard mileage charge and this would be need to paid by your representatives directly to the funeral director.
Safe Hands Funeral Plans do not have provision for repatriation (transportation of the deceased back to the UK) if you are abroad when you pass away. However, if you have travel insurance this should cover the cost of the repatriation to the UK. Once back in the country, Safe Hands Funeral Plans will arrange for you to be collected from the airport by the funeral director and taken to the Chapel of Rest.
